Sankar Venkateswaran
Promising Theatre Artist

Born in 1979, Sankar Venkateswaran is a theatre director from Kerala, he graduated from Calicut University School of Drama & Fine Arts, after which he completed Theatre Training and Research Programme from, Singapore.

In 2007, he founded the collective 'Theatre Roots & Wings' & directed acclaimed productions including 'Times that went without knowing', Henrik Ibsen's 'When we Dead Awaken','101 Lullabies', 'The Water Station' & many more. He served as the Artistic Director for International Theatre Festival of Kerala in 2015 & 2016. Sankar is currently establishing a culture space in Kerala where he closely works with the indigenous communities of the Silent Valley region.

Sankar is a recipient of Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2011, & international Ibsen Scholarships 2013.
