Rakesh Chaurasia, is a child prodigy. He is the nephew of the illustrious fiute maestro Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and one of his most accomplished disciples.

Just like his legendary uncle, young Rakesh has imbibed the right balance of strength and serenity while playing the fiute which is also known as bansuri. He dexterous blowing technique with his innate sense of rhythm makes him one of the foremost bansuri players among the younger generation. Rakesh has enthralled audiences all over India and at many places abroad by his scintillating performances. Rakesh has also made a name for himself as an accomplished accompanist in various experimental ensembles in the film industry. He was also one of the performers in a 24-hour live music broadcast on BBC radio and the Festival of Saint-Denis, Paris and Leloester International Music-Festival in England.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the them President of India honoured him with Indian Music Academy award in April 2007. Indeed, young Rakesh Chaurasis is destined to care a niche for himself.
